THE FIRST 50

In 1918 the 'famous' fifty soldiers from Coalville enlisted to fight in the Great War. Only 22 of them returned. This new community play told their story and the story of the war to end all wars.

Brought to life with five actors, voices of local schoolchildren and live music. The First 50 was performed over the remembrance weekend in November 2018 in the magnificent setting of St John the Baptist Church in Hugglescote.
